Refugees weaving in camp

Filmed two weeks before a devastating fire swept through a Karenni refugee camp in Thailand, Reuters reporter, Thin Lei Win documented the work of two refugee women.

Pa Ni Paw and Naw Gay Moo are among 140,000 people from Myanmar living in nine refugee camps along the Thai border. They cannot leave the camps, and many live on dwindling aid handouts.

A few years ago the Thai government began letting them earn money from work in the camps, and many – including Pa Ni Paw and Naw Gay Moo – have found ways of making a living. Both women live in the picturesque Ban Mae Surin camp in north Thailand’s Mae Hong Son province.
